‘Merit, competency more important in recruitment’
Private sector organizations run their ventures mainly for profit, so they will recruit competent people only

India is a huge country consisting of different religious groups, languages, castes, races, and others. One of the issues in India is caste, and some people feel by caste, one is great, which is not true. One is great through activities. So, after independence, the Government of India adopted a reservation policy for a few communities.
Now, the issue is job reservation for the local people. In this regard, I would like to give one example. When a person is willing to recruit a teacher for private tuition for his child, the person evaluates the teacher’s competency, not local or non-local. Another example is Hyderabad, which is now popular for medical tourism. Every year, thousands of people from different parts of India and abroad visit Hyderabad, as medical science is developed here with famous doctors, modern medical facilities, etc. So merit and competency are more important than any other issue for job purposes. In general, private sector organizations run their ventures mainly for profit motives, so they will recruit competent people. If locally competent people are not available, in that case, from outside the state, youth should be recruited. So, reservation for local people in the private sector jobs cannot be supported.

The Congress government in Karnataka shocked the corporates by announcing reservations for local people in private jobs recently. But it went back on this after corporates including IT industry body Nasscom opposed it. But way back in 2019, the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh enacted a law, reserving 75 per cent jobs in private sector to locals. But Nara Lokesh, the new IT Minister of AP, invited corporates from Bengaluru to come to Andhra Pradesh if they are not happy with local quota in Karnataka.
